We are looking for a talented student graphic web designer to work with OUSU Officers and staff to develop and help shape the look and feel of OUSU’s new website, to be launched in Michaelmas 2012.

You will be an Oxford student, available from early June and all over the summer vacation. You will have a flair for creative visual design and demonstrable experience in designing for web.

Young Leadership Conference and Award Ceremony

Oxford Women in Politics (OxWiP) is holding a conference that will celebrate new young leaders at the University of Oxford. There will be representatives from both the Labour and Conservative party speaking about securing an entry level job in politics. The panel is being moderated by BBC Journalist Hannah Barnes.

There will also be a chance to have your resume reviewed by Richmond Solutions that has helped numerous individuals secure jobs within Parliament. Richmond Solutions is also sponsoring the Young Leadership Award, where one student has the chance to receive £300 by submitting their resume and answering the following question, “what can female leaders contribute to politics?”

AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME

A conversation with Ambassador Mohammed Sahnoun, formerly special advisor to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and chair of the Caux Forum for Human Security

Security is often seen in terms of defence: keeping the enemy out. But for ordinary people all over the world, security is much more than the absence of conflict: it involves food, shelter, opportunities and everything that makes for a stable and healthy life. The lack of these conditions often fuels conflict. The struggle for people-centred security rests on five pillars:

·        living sustainably
·        inclusive economics
·        just governance
·        healing memory
·        intercultural dialogue

Come and take part in a conversation with Ambassador Sahnoun on how each of us can play a role. Professor Jennifer Welsh, co-director of the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict, will respond to his comments.

This will be followed by a chance to interact with Ambassador Sahnoun and other participants, over light refreshments.

The Careers Service is delivering a 90 minute session just for Masters students on Wednesday 30th May from 1pm. We’ll help you think through the options ahead and how to find out what’s available in the labour market and in further study. Chocolates and Cava Charity Auction Night

This Saturday 19th May, Lady Margaret Hall College will be hosting a Chocolates and Cava Charity Auction Night with all proceeds going to Asylum Welcome, a local independent charity providing information and support to refugees, immigrant detainees, and asylum seekers (and also currently one of our three GCR Charities).

Come and spend an evening sipping on Cava, nibbling on chocolates, and bidding to win great prizes, including:

- a gift box from LUSH handmade cosmetics
- a giant macaroon from Rick’s cafe
- cinema tickets
- coffee vouchers
- home-baked goodies
- and much, much more!

The event should be finished by 10pm – just in time to go back to the college and party at the Olympic Bop!
